Places You Can Take Your Dog in DuPage County

Don’t leave your furry friend at home when you’re out in Naperville this spring and summer!

Now that it’s finally warmer outside, it’s officially patio season! We Midwesterners tend to make the most out of spring and summer, especially since we never know what the winter will have in store. Don’t leave your furry friend at home while you’re enjoying the outdoors! Aurora and the Naperville area have some fabulous pet-friendly patios and other locations to check out (not limited to these selections)! Keep in mind that most patios are first come, first served, so check out their websites and social media if you have any questions.

1.       Quigley’s Irish Pub

Proudly claiming the title of “Naperville’s original dog friendly patio”, your furbaby won’t be turned away at Quigley’s Irish Pub! Experience both Naperville and Irish history in this building that was built in 1845 and contains custom woodwork and glasswork shipped from Ireland. Enjoy live music and events all summer long, or simply bring your dog and some friends to enjoy a pint on the patio. Slainte!

2.       Crosstown Pub & Grill

With daily specials all summer long, Crosstown Pub & Grill is the perfect place to meet up with friends after a long day’s work or to relax on the weekend. Thanks to their spacious patio you can bring your furry friend along for the R&R, too! Enjoy traditional pub fare like burgers and wings (rated a 9.5/10 on Barstool Sports, higher than several wings in the city!). Don’t believe us? Just take a look at the pictures on their website and your mouth will start watering.

3.       Morton’s The Steakhouse

Thanks to Morton’s you don’t even have to leave your furbaby at home for the fancier dinner dates! This is definitely the fancier (and also pricier) option on this list, but thanks to the slightly more casual outdoor dining area you can enjoy a nice steak meal without leaving your dog at home. They don’t take reservations for the outdoor space, but these steaks are worth the wait if it’s a busy night.

4.       Peanuts Bar & Grill

Located just off the Naperville Riverwalk, Peanuts Bar & Grill is the perfect place to stop for lunch or dinner after a day out in the sun. Their typical diner fare is sure to hit the spot, and you can wash it all down with one of 18 draft or 25 bottled beers, or a cocktail, glass of wine, or soda if that’s more your style. Their large patio is perfect for your pooch to cool off as well!

5.       Greene Valley Forest Preserve

At The Aventine we have an off-leash pet park so our furry friends don’t have to leave the grounds to run around, but if you don’t have a community dog park, or if you want more space for your dog to run around there are several places around that are perfect! Take the Greene Valle Forest Preserve, for example. Their 16-acre fully fenced dog area has separate areas for large and small dogs, with water and shaded sitting areas. You do have to have a registration for each dog you bring, so make sure to check out their website before heading over.
